At Integrated Web Design, we have developed a task oriented process by which we plan, design, execute, and maintain a web site.
1. The Initial Planning
The initial planning meeting will usually take place at the client's location, and will normally take approximately one to one and one-half hours. These site planning meetings are completely free and without any Client obligation. During this site planning meeting, Integrated Web Design will determine exactly what type of web site design you are looking for, and then answer any questions a the potential client has. The purpose of this initial meeting is to provide the client with enough information to allow him or her to decide whether he/she wants to consider using Integrated Web Design as his/her web design and/or web hosting company.
2. Estimate and Agreement Preparation
If, after the initial site planning, the client desires to contract with Integrated Web Design, we will then spend additional time gathering pertinent web information. This is usually accomplished by e-mail or phone, and then Integrated Web Design will then write an estimate and an agreement for the potential web site. There is a minimum charge of $75.99 for preparing this estimate, and will only be higher for larger or more complicated web site development. If, after receiving the estimate for a proposed web site, the client decides not to go forward with the web development, the $75.99 shall immediately become due and payable. If the Client desires to retain Integrated Web Design to develop his/her web site, then the estimate charge will be waived.
3. Signing of Agreement
Integrated Web Design will prepare a standard web development contract that will include a detailed description of the web site and a cost estimate. If the estimate is agreeable to the client, the Web Development Agreement (WDA) will be signed by both the client and a representative of Integrated Web Design. At this milestone, the client will be provided with an invoice for approximately 1/3 of the total estimated cost, which will then fall due and payable.
4. Gathering of Content for the Site
Text and graphic content must be gathered by the Client before most work can begin on the site. Integrated Web Design will prepare a Content Checklist for the client to assist him/her in pulling together the content for the web site.
5. Site structure and dynamic applications.
Integrated Web Design will prepare a detailed plan for the site structure (the way information is arranged and how navigation will work), and start work on any database driven applications.
6. Page Layout Drafts
When site content has all been gathered, page layout and visual design begins. The site's Main Page is designed first. Integrated Web Design will then produces a draft site, based upon the content, needs, and preferences provided, and will then upload this site to a private location on the Internet where only the client can view it. The client's feedback will then be solicited, and this feedback will be utilized to produce a second draft site. Once more, client feedback is used to make an additional round of changes, and these changes are expected to produce a final draft. The same process is used for secondary pages, and any other page designs required for the site. A second payment of 1/3 of the estimated total is due at this milestone.
7. Database Building and Dynamic Application Coding
Integrated Web Design will then create any databases that will be needed, as well as coding for all dynamic pages. These applications will be tested thoroughly by both the Integrated Web Design staff and the Client or his/her representative.
8. HTML/Dynamic Coding
The approved page designs will be used as templates for the overall web site. Text and graphic content will be then inserted and adjusted for a pleasing layout in several web browsers including at least two versions of Internet Explorer, two versions of Netscape and the latest version of Opera.
9. Final Site Testing
The site will again be thoroughly tested utilizing Integrated Web Design personnel and members of the Clients staff. The actual pages are uploaded for the clients’ review and to make any minor changes or corrections. Testing will again be done on various browsers to ensure that the maximum number of site visitors are able to access the site. A final step in the testing phase is to ensure that the site is accessible to those site visitors with disabilities. This testing will be done with third party accessibility software at no additional cost to the client.
10. Live Site Launch
The site shall be up-loaded to the Client’s own server, or server provided by Integrated Web Design, and shall be considered to be a live site. Once the site is launched, the client will be provided with a complete version of the site on CD/DVD, and the final one-third of the total payment will then be due and payable.
11. Site Maintenance
The Client will be provided with the opportunity of having the site maintained by Integrated Web Design on a monthly, Quarterly, semi-annually or annual basis at an additional cost to be agreed upon in writing at the time of the Live Site Launch (above). (This step is not mandatory, but is highly recommended) The Client shall then be invoiced for the maintenance one year in advance.
